Victorian Curriculum 2.0 at Lalor North Primary School
At Lalor North Primary School, we are proud to deliver the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 as the foundation of our teaching and learning programs. This revised curriculum is designed to ensure that all students develop the essential knowledge, skills and capabilities to thrive in a rapidly changing world. It reflects up to date research and provides a clear, structured framework that supports both academic achievement and personal growth.
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) is responsible for developing the curriculum for Victoria’s school aged students. The Victorian Curriculum F–10 adopts and adapts the Australian Curriculum for Victoria’s context.
It sets out the set of knowledge and skills every Victorian student should learn during their first 10 years of schooling.

Curriculum Design for Deep Learning
The Victorian Curriculum 2.0 is organised into learning areas and capabilities, with clear progression across Foundation to Year 10. The curriculum is sequenced to ensure students move through concepts in a logical order, enabling them to build on prior knowledge and deepen their understanding over time.
At Lalor North Primary School, we align our curriculum delivery with the science of learning, focusing on evidence-based practices that support how students best acquire and retain knowledge. Our teaching is grounded in explicit instruction, guided practice, and regular review to ensure concepts are fully understood and retained long term.
Planning and Collaboration
Our teaching teams work in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan and deliver the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 across all year levels. Teams collaborate to design units of work that are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with curriculum expectations. This shared planning approach ensures consistency across the school and allows for flexibility to meet the individual needs of our students.
Bilingual Programs: Teaching the Curriculum Through Language
One of the unique strengths of Lalor North Primary School is our bilingual programs. We offer Greek-English and Macedonian-English bilingual education, and we are proud to say that the full Victorian Curriculum 2.0 is taught through the languages of Greek and Macedonian in these programs. Students not only develop deep academic understanding but also strengthen their language skills and cultural awareness.
In our bilingual classrooms, the same rigorous curriculum is delivered, with high expectations and strong emphasis on explicit teaching of content, vocabulary, and concepts….just as it is in our standard program. This approach ensures that bilingual learners are not only proficient in two languages, but also confident and capable across all learning areas.
A Whole School Commitment
From Foundation to Year 6, all students at Lalor North Primary School experience a curriculum that is:
- Structured: following a sequenced and clearly mapped Victorian Curriculum 2.0
- Inclusive: catering for all learners, including through our bilingual pathways
- Evidence-based: aligned with the latest research in the science of learning
- Collaboratively planned: developed by expert teams working together to meet student needs
At Lalor North Primary School, we are committed to delivering the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 in a way that engages, challenges, and supports every student, whether in English, Greek, or Macedonian. Our programs ensure that all learners grow academically, socially, and linguistically, preparing them for a bright future.
